What does Tribe teach about jesus return?

At Tribe, the teaching on Jesus's return starts with the conviction that it is not too confusing or too distant to pay attention to. Brian Hunter has pushed back directly against what he calls the 'passenger princess' posture toward end times, arguing that the point of understanding these things is to be the kind of person who is ready, the way the ten virgins with oil in their lamps were ready. The return of Jesus, he says, is a subject the Old Testament prophets, the fall feasts, and the New Testament all point toward together, and reading them as a coherent whole opens up something much larger than a simple picture of rescue from heaven.
Brian has taught that the return will not look the way many of us were trained to picture it. In the 'When a Jew Rules the World' message he described Jesus descending not initially onto the Mount of Olives but onto Mount Sinai, arriving in the same mode God revealed himself to Israel through Moses, surrounded by clouds, earthquakes, and trumpet blasts, in a way that would get the attention of a Jewish person formed on the Torah and the Tanach. From there, Brian described a triumphal procession sweeping up through the desert toward Jerusalem. In the 'Rising Lion' conversation he pressed the room even further, saying he expects large numbers within the church to reject Jesus at his return, and drawing a comparison to Israel missing the first coming because the Messiah who arrived looked nothing like the one they expected.
The fall feasts teaching gave the clearest calendar for how Tribe thinks about these events. The feast of trumpets is a rehearsal for the return of Jesus and the resurrection of the saints. Yom Kippur is a rehearsal for the liberation of Jerusalem and the national mourning of Israel, drawn from Zechariah 12. And woven through all of it is a call to a particular kind of readiness. In 'The Ring, the Robe, and the Rib Eye,' Brian framed it in personal terms: 'There will either be an eagerness and anticipation to run towards him when we see him crest the hill on the horizon or what the Bible talks about as a shrinking away.' The Tribe teaching on this consistently calls people to be among those who are running toward him.
