What does Tribe teach about palm sunday?

At Tribe, the teaching on Palm Sunday starts with the crowd's cry of hosanna and what it actually meant. Brian Hunter has explained that hosanna is an Aramaic word, and as he put it, Brian says, "Hosanna means save, please. Like, save us, please." He compared it to someone who has been treading water for hours and finally sees the coast guard arriving, calling out with whatever strength they have left. That desperate, hopeful cry is the emotional register he places the congregation in when they think about the people who lined the road as Jesus rode down from the Mount of Olives, across the Kidron Valley, and through the Eastern Gate.
Both Palm Sunday messages treated the day not as an isolated observance but as the opening of Passover week. Brian connected the triumphal entry to the larger story of where Jesus was heading, and looked forward to a second arrival the Bible describes, this time on a white war horse rather than an unbroken colt. He drew a line from the first coming to what the Old Testament calls the time of Jacob's trouble, and suggested that Israel's national turning to Jesus as Messiah is still ahead.
For Tribe, Palm Sunday also serves as the door into what Pastor Brian calls God's family traditions, the seven biblical feasts. The congregation has been walking through those feasts together for several years, and the Sunday that opens Passover week is the moment each spring when that season begins in earnest.
