What does Tribe teach about anointing oil?

At Tribe, the teaching on anointing oil starts with the recipe God gave Moses in Exodus 30:22-33. Brian drew attention to something unusual about that oil: normally, when something consecrated touches something ordinary, the consecrated thing loses its distinction. This oil worked the other way around. Whatever touched it became holy. That single reversal carries the weight of the whole teaching.
From there, Brian connected the anointing oil to the outpouring of the Spirit described in Isaiah 32:15 and to the identity that believers carry as a result. The Spirit, he taught, is what consecrates people in the same way the oil consecrated objects under Moses. Those purchased by Christ's blood are, as Revelation 5:9-10 puts it, made a kingdom and priests who will reign on the earth. Brian put it plainly: "You are the daughter of the king. That makes you royalty." That royal standing is not only a privilege. As he also said, "It comes with rights and privileges, but also the responsibility to bring peace and order, healing, and wholeness to areas of chaos."
The teaching does not treat anointing as a relic of the Old Testament. Brian read Isaiah 32:15 as having at least three layers: a past fulfillment at Pentecost, a present reality in the life of the church, and a future fulfillment still to come in the reign of Christ. The anointing oil of Exodus and the Spirit poured out in Isaiah share the same theme, consecration, and that consecration is ongoing. The same Spirit that set apart the tabernacle and its furnishings is at work setting apart ordinary people and, through them, touching the ordinary world.
