What does Tribe teach about holy spirit?

At Tribe, the teaching on the Holy Spirit starts with who he is and what he actually does inside a believer. Brian Hunter draws a clear line between the Old Testament pattern, where the Spirit came upon particular people for particular tasks and then departed, and the New Covenant reality, where the Holy Spirit takes up permanent residence inside a person at the moment of belief. He is not a fragment or a portion. He moves in fully, and he does not leave. Brian is also careful to say that the Holy Spirit living in a believer is not the same thing as the Holy Spirit operating freely through that believer. As Brian puts it, "When I get saved, the Holy Spirit lives in me, but he awaits for me to give him permission to operate through me."
The teaching on what the Spirit actually does in a person's life runs through several passages. From 1 Corinthians 2, he searches out and reveals the deep things of God. From John 14, he teaches and reminds us of everything Jesus said. From Ephesians 1, he floods the heart with light. Brian describes him as someone whose favorite subject is Jesus, which makes cultivating a relationship with him the most direct path to knowing Jesus better. He also speaks of the Spirit as a seal and guarantee, the name written permanently on the inside of a believer's life, working to engrave, enlighten, and empower rather than to suppress or deface the person God made. Brian is direct that "the spirit doesn't make you bold. He just makes Jesus undeniable in your life."
Practically, Brian teaches that walking in the Spirit is not a gift reserved for certain Christians. It is, as he has put it, the natural first language of anyone who belongs to Jesus. The Holy Spirit needs something to work with, which is why storing scripture in the heart matters. He speaks in a still small voice, which implies closeness rather than distance, and learning to hear him clearly in small, ordinary moments is what makes his voice recognizable when the stakes are high. The fire of the Spirit at conversion is God's work entirely, but maintaining that fire is the believer's responsibility, the same way Leviticus gave the altar-tending instructions to the priests and not to God.
