What does Tribe teach about anointing oil?

At Tribe, the teaching on anointing oil starts with the recipe God gave Moses in Exodus 30. The oil was strictly set apart, forbidden to be copied for ordinary use, and those who wore it without authorization were to be cut off from the people. What Brian drew attention to was how it behaved differently from anything else that was consecrated. Normally, when something holy touches something common, the holy thing becomes ordinary. With this oil the reverse was true: whatever it touched became holy.
Brian tied that directly to the Holy Spirit. The anointing oil in Exodus and the outpouring of the Spirit described in Isaiah 32 share the same theme, consecration. The Spirit does to those who receive it what the oil did to whatever it touched. That consecration carries a royal identity with it. Brian says, "You are the daughter of the king. That makes you royalty." And royalty, he made clear, is not only a privilege. Brian says it "comes with rights and privileges, but also the responsibility to bring peace and order, healing, and wholeness to areas of chaos."
The teaching closed with a time of anointing for the congregation, grounded in the idea that this is not a ceremony set apart for special people. Exodus 30 says, "It shall not be poured on the body of an ordinary person," and Brian's point was that those consecrated by the Spirit are precisely not ordinary persons. They are, in the language of Revelation 5:9-10, a kingdom and priests made to reign on the earth.
