What does Tribe teach about communion meaning?

At Tribe, the teaching on communion holds it between two fixed points in time. Brian Hunter frames it as a practice that looks backward and forward at once: backward to the Passover, which he traces as a foreshadowing of Jesus as the ultimate Passover lamb, and forward to the wedding supper of the Lamb described in Revelation 19. He notes that Jesus said he would not drink of the fruit of the vine again until that day, which means every time the church shares communion it is both a remembrance of what Christ has already done and an anticipation of what is still coming.
In the January 2024 service, communion closed a morning centered on clarity in complexity, functioning as an act of that clarity in practice rather than a standalone ritual. In the September 2022 service, it opened the morning before the teaching began, setting the frame through which the whole conversation about hope and the return of Jesus was meant to be heard. In both cases the emphasis is the same: communion is not an isolated church moment but a marker that orients believers to where they stand in a much longer story.
The September 2022 service also brought the congregation into the September 2025 gathering, where the whole Tribe family shared communion together under one roof at the Saloon as a close to a service that had been heavy with grief. In each of these settings, communion is treated as something the family does together, not a formality to be administered, but a shared act of remembrance and forward-looking hope.
