What does Tribe teach about mother's day?

At Tribe, the Mother's Day teaching draws its shape from the women Scripture puts at the center of the story. Amanda Lack brought the message in both 2026 sessions, working through 1 Samuel 1 and 3 to introduce Hannah, a barren woman who was mocked for her condition, who prayed a bold and specific prayer for a son, kept her promise by bringing Samuel to the temple, and sewed him a new robe every year. Samuel grew up sleeping beside the Ark of the Covenant, marked by the faithfulness of a mother who had done her part long before anyone outside her household noticed.
The teaching Amanda returned to most often was the difference between hearing and listening. As she put it, "Hearing and listening are very different. You can hear your mom call you to dinner while you're playing video games, but are you listening to her?" That image of a mother calling and a child choosing whether to orient toward her voice carried the whole message. Samuel heard God three times before his posture was right. What the teaching holds out is that God is patient enough to keep calling, and that a life shaped by private faithfulness, like Hannah's, or private obedience, like Samuel's before any public ministry began, is not wasted time.
In 2023, Pastor Brian brought a Mother's Day message that started by defining what God says about women before honoring them, working from Genesis 1 through Romans 1. He read the creation of human beings male and female as God's design and used the image of ancient boundary stones, markers that in Israel defined each family's land, to name what he sees happening culturally. For Brian, honoring mothers and women begins with taking seriously what God says they are.
