What does Tribe teach about prayer language?

At Tribe, the teaching on prayer language treats it as one of the practical, concrete ways a believer cultivates an ongoing relationship with the Holy Spirit. In the series on walking in the Spirit and in the eighth-birthday message, Brian worked through what it actually looks like to stay in step with the Holy Spirit day to day, and a personal prayer language came up repeatedly as part of that rhythm, alongside things like listening for small nudges, obeying them, and not forsaking gathering together. The framing is relational rather than doctrinal: prayer language is not a badge of spiritual status but one of the ways a believer stays in living conversation with God.
The thread running through Brian's teaching is that the Holy Spirit already lives fully in every believer, but he waits for permission to operate through them. Prayer language fits inside that larger picture. It is one instrument in the ongoing fellowship with the Spirit that scripture describes, not an end in itself. First Corinthians 14:2 and Ephesians 6:18 were among the passages brought into that conversation, grounding the practice in what the New Testament actually says about praying in the Spirit.
The oil-for-your-lamp section of the birthday message connected to this as well. Brian made the point that intimacy with God is not transferable, that no pastor or worship service can supply what only personal, daily communion produces. That kind of intimacy, built through surrender, obedience, and prayer, is what purchases the oil a person needs. As Brian put it, "You cannot burn your lamp off of somebody else's oil."
